Shadow Box Framing in Los Angeles, California
Shadow boxes turn everyday keepsakes into something worth displaying. Bring us your memory and we'll make it last.

When You Need Shadow Box Framing in Los Angeles
A shadow box is a framed display case built with depth, designed to hold three-dimensional objects safely behind glass.[1] You might need one when a jersey sits folded in a drawer for years. Or when a medal, a coin, or a baby shoe has no good home. LA's intense UV exposure makes proper framing even more important here. Without UV-protective glass, sunlight fades fabric and paper fast. We've seen sports jerseys go from vivid to washed-out in just a few years on an unprotected wall. Don't let that happen to something irreplaceable. If you've got an object worth keeping, it's worth framing right.
Sports Memorabilia
Jerseys, signed balls, and game-day tickets deserve more than a closet shelf. We build custom shadow boxes that display them properly and protect them for decades.
Military Medals and Uniforms
Service medals and insignia carry real meaning. We frame them with archival materials so they're preserved the way they deserve to be.
Baby and Family Keepsakes
First shoes, hospital bracelets, and birth announcements are easy to lose track of. A shadow box keeps them safe and visible.
Wedding and Event Mementos
Invitations, dried flowers, and small keepsakes from a big day can all go into one display. We arrange them so the layout tells a story.
Entertainment and Movie Memorabilia
LA has a strong market for signed scripts, posters, and props. We frame them with the care those pieces earn.
Travel and Hobby Collections
Coins, patches, pins, and pressed flowers all fit in a shadow box. Bring us your collection and we'll figure out the right layout together.
Why Los Angeles Homeowners Trust Us for Shadow Box Framing
Shadow box framing isn't just cutting a mat and hanging glass. The depth, the layout, the mounting method, all of it matters. Get it wrong and the object shifts, sags, or gets damaged over time. We've built thousands of shadow boxes since 1989. We know which materials hold up in LA's climate and which ones don't. We use our Arteck digital preview software. You can see exactly how your piece will look before we build anything.

Shadow Box Framing Cost in Los Angeles
Shadow box pricing depends on a few real factors. The size of the box matters. The depth needed, frame style, and glass type all affect the price. UV glass costs more than standard glass. A small shadow box for a single medal costs less. A large display for a signed jersey with multiple items costs more. In our experience, most customers in Los Angeles spend somewhere in the middle range. We give you an exact quote before any work starts. No guessing, no surprise charges at pickup.
Shadow Box Framing Questions Answered
Here are the questions we hear most often at our Venice shop.
-
How much does shadow box framing cost in Los Angeles?
Most shadow boxes at Frame 2000 run between $150 and $800 or more, depending on size and complexity. A small box for one medal sits at the lower end. A large jersey display with multiple items and UV glass sits higher. We quote every project before starting, so you know the number upfront.
-
How long does it take to build a shadow box?
Most shadow boxes are ready in one to two weeks. Larger or more complex builds may take a little longer. We'll give you a realistic timeline when you drop off your item. Rush orders are sometimes possible, so ask us if timing is tight.
-
Can I build a shadow box myself instead of coming in?
You can buy a ready-made shadow box at a craft store, but the results are usually obvious. The depth is fixed, the materials are often acidic, and there's no UV protection. For anything you actually care about, a custom build is worth it. We've reframed a lot of DIY shadow boxes that didn't hold up.
-
How is a shadow box different from a regular picture frame?
A regular frame is flat. A shadow box has depth, usually one to four inches, so three-dimensional objects fit inside. The mounting method is also different. Objects are secured to a backing board rather than just sitting behind glass. That extra structure is what keeps everything in place over time.
-
Is shadow box framing urgent, or can I wait?
Waiting isn't always a problem, but some items do degrade over time without protection. Fabric fades. Paper yellows. Leather dries out. LA's strong sunlight speeds that up. If your item is already showing wear, sooner is better. And if it's stored in a garage or closet, humidity and dust can do damage too.
-
How do I know if my item is right for a shadow box?
If it's three-dimensional and you want to display it safely, it probably belongs in a shadow box. Jerseys, medals, coins, baby shoes, dried flowers, ticket stubs, and small sculptures all work well. Bring it in and we'll tell you honestly. We'll say if a shadow box is right for you. Or we'll suggest another framing style that works better.
-
Do you frame sports memorabilia shadow boxes for LA teams?
Yes, and we do a lot of them. Signed Lakers jerseys, Rams memorabilia, Dodgers items, we've framed all of it. The entertainment industry also keeps us busy with signed scripts and props. We know how to mount and display these pieces so they look right and stay protected for years.
