When Your Photos Need Professional Framing in Los Angeles

A faded photo is a lost memory. LA gets over 300 sunny days a year, and that UV exposure quietly destroys unprotected prints. We've seen photos turn yellow in just a few years from a west-facing window. Wildfire smoke during fire season can also damage paper prints sitting in thin, bargain frames. And if you've been through even a small earthquake, a loose frame can crack the glass right into your photo. The right framing stops all of that. Acid-free matting and UV-protective glass are the difference between a photo that lasts 10 years and one that lasts 100. Don't wait until the damage shows up.[1]

Common Needs

Fading and Yellowing Prints

Sun damage is the top reason photos fade. We use UV glass and acid-free materials to stop it.

Family Portraits and Milestones

Graduations, weddings, newborns. These photos matter too much for a cheap frame from a big-box store.

Large-Format Photo Prints

Big prints need strong, well-built frames. We handle oversized photos that most shops won't touch.

Vintage and Heirloom Photos

Old photos are fragile. Archival materials and careful handling keep them safe for the next generation.

Smoke or Water Damaged Photos

Fire season smoke can seep into frames and damage prints. We can reframe and help protect what's left.

Professional Headshots and Studio Prints

Actors, artists, and business professionals all need clean, polished framing for their work.

Fair Pricing

Photo Framing Cost in Los Angeles

Photo framing prices vary based on size, frame style, mat choice, and glass type. A small print in a simple frame costs much less. A large portrait with conservation glass and a double mat costs more. In Los Angeles, where UV exposure is a real concern, many customers choose to upgrade to UV-protective glazing. It adds a bit to the cost, but it's worth it for photos you want to keep. We give you a clear price before any work starts. No surprises at pickup.

Your Questions

Photo Framing Questions Answered

Here are the questions we hear most often from customers in Los Angeles.

  • How much does photo framing cost in Los Angeles?

Most photo framing jobs at our shop run between $60 and $400 depending on size and materials. A small 5x7 in a simple frame sits at the lower end. A large portrait with UV glass and a custom mat is at the higher end. We always give you a clear price before starting.

  • How long does it take to frame a photo?

Most jobs are ready within 7 to 10 business days. Rush turnaround may be available if you have a deadline. Just let us know when you bring it in and we'll tell you what's possible.

  • Can I just buy a frame from a store and do it myself?

You can, but off-the-shelf frames often use acidic backing boards that yellow photos over time. And getting the mat cut right without tools is tough. In our experience, DIY framing looks fine for a year or two and then starts showing wear. Professional framing with archival materials protects the photo for decades.

  • What's the difference between regular glass and UV-protective glass?

Regular glass blocks almost no UV light. UV-protective glass blocks 99% of it. In LA, with 300-plus sunny days a year, that difference matters. Photos behind regular glass in a sunny room can fade noticeably within a few years. We recommend UV glass for anything you plan to keep long-term.

  • Is photo framing urgent if my print is already fading?

Yes, bring it in soon. Fading is a slow process but it doesn't stop on its own. The sooner a photo is behind UV glass and acid-free materials, the sooner the damage stops. Waiting longer just means more color loss you can't get back.

  • How do I know if my photo needs conservation framing?

Look for yellowing edges, color shifts, or a brittle feel to the paper. These are signs of acid damage or UV exposure. Old family photos, vintage prints, and anything printed before the 1990s are the most at risk. If the photo is irreplaceable, conservation framing is the right call.

  • Can you frame photos that were damaged in a wildfire or earthquake?

We see this more than you'd think in Los Angeles. Smoke-damaged prints and cracked frames from quakes come through our shop regularly. Bring it in and we'll take a look. If the photo itself is salvageable, we can reframe it. We use proper protective materials. Then we get it back on your wall.
